Step 5 · Get the right people coming to you

Get other businesses to send you customers.

Somebody else already has the trust of the customers you want. Find the businesses who serve them, give them a good reason to recommend you, and make it so easy they do it every time. Then see exactly which partnerships bring you work.

What you’ll build

Partners who recommend you. Without you chasing.

By the end of the course you’ll have partners sending you work, and a simple system that keeps it coming. Here’s what you’ll know how to do.

01

Pick the partners who will actually send you work

Lots of businesses serve your customers. Only a few will pick up the phone and recommend you. You’ll learn the six things that decide whether a partnership works, and score every possible partner, starting with people you already know.

How: your AI builds and scores the list from your contacts, your suppliers, your competitors’ partners and a search of businesses near you.

02

Give them a reason to say yes

Businesses recommend you when it makes them look good to their own customers, or when they can make money from it. You’ll learn what partners really want, the types of partnership from referral swaps to strategic alliances, affiliates and resellers, and build an offer for each of your top partners that fixes a problem they already have.

How: your partner offer is built from the offer you made in Create an Offer, using each partner’s website and reviews.

03

Make recommending you take ten seconds

Most referrals are lost between “I must tell them about you” and actually doing it. You’ll build a referral kit your partners can use in seconds, a page on your website just for their customers, and agree simply and fairly how it all works.

How: a forwardable paragraph, the phrases to listen for, a tracking link for each partner, and a one page agreement, all written for you to check.

04

Keep them sending, and see who pays off

Partnerships don’t usually end in a falling out. They just fade. You’ll set up a light routine, run joint campaigns that reach a partner’s whole audience at once, and get a monthly report showing exactly where your time is best spent.

How: a Partner Agent in your AI tells you every Monday who to thank and who to get in touch with, and your monthly report pulls from your CRM, accounts and Google Analytics.

Why most partnerships fizzle out

A coffee and a handshake isn’t a partnership.

Everyone has had the “we should refer each other” chat. Most of them come to nothing, not because people don’t mean it, but because nothing makes it easy or worth their while. This course fixes the bits in between.

How it usually goes
  • Partners picked because you like them, not because they have your customers
  • “Let’s refer each other” with nothing in it for them
  • They mean to recommend you, then forget
  • No idea which partners bring you work
With the course
  • Partners scored, so you put your time into the right three
  • An offer that makes them look good to their customers
  • A referral kit and a routine that keeps you front of mind
  • A monthly report showing exactly who sends you work

Fair, and within the rules

Good partnerships are fair to everyone.

Referrals are built on trust, so the course shows you how to keep it, with your customers and your partners.

🤝 What the course covers

Passing on details the right way. You’ll only ever pass on someone’s details with their permission, using a simple warm introduction.

Referral fees and thank yous. When to pay, when not to, how to agree it in writing, and which professions have their own rules about it.

Joint giveaways. The prize draw rules, and how to let people choose which brands can email them.

Please note: this course is general training, not legal advice. If you’re unsure about anything, check the ICO’s guidance or the ASA’s guidance on prize draws, or speak to a qualified adviser.

A real campaign

One giveaway. Six brands. Over 5 million people.

A local brewery wanted to reach more people who love eating outside, so we teamed them up with five well known food and outdoor brands for one summer giveaway. Every brand shared it with their own customers, and everyone who didn’t win got an offer from every brand. The course shows you how to plan one, step by step.

What’s in the course

Seven short parts. One working system.

Work through it at your own pace. Nothing to watch: every part is written step by step, with pictures, the right prompts to copy and the tools to use, and ends with something working for your business.

1. Pick partners who will actually send you work

Start with people you already know, then score every possible partner on whether they have your customers, get asked for what you do, and are easy to work with.
You’ll have: your Partner Scorecard and your top three partners.

2. Work out what’s in it for them

Why businesses really recommend someone, the types of partnership from simple referral swaps to strategic alliances, affiliates and resellers, what you can offer a partner besides money, and whether to pay a referral fee.
You’ll have: a partner offer each of your top three will want to say yes to.

3. Make the first approach, and the first meeting

Give before you ask, then send a short, friendly approach and walk into the meeting knowing what to ask.
You’ll have: your first three approaches sent, and a brief for every meeting.

4. Make referring you really easy

A referral kit, a partner page with a tracking link for each partner, and a simple one page agreement.
You’ll have: everything your partners need to recommend you in ten seconds.

5. Grow it with joint campaigns

Giveaways, workshops, newsletter swaps, bundles and more, and the rules for prize draws.
You’ll have: one joint campaign planned, with dates.

6. Keep partners sending you work

Handle every referral brilliantly, a light routine, and how to step back kindly from one sided partnerships.
You’ll have: a Partner Agent that tells you every Monday who to thank and who to get in touch with.

7. See which partnerships pay off

Set up your CRM for partners and get a monthly report from your AI.
You’ll have: a clear view of which partners bring you work, and where to put your time next.

Your questions, answered

Is it ready now?

Yes. It’s live now. Join the Academy and you can start today.

Do I need to do anything first?

It works best once you know who your best customers are and what you offer, because a partner can only pass on an offer their customers want. Do Find the Customers You Actually Want and Create an Offer Your Clients Can’t Say No To first.

I’ve done Put AI in Charge of Finding Sales Opportunities. Is this the same?

No. That course helps you find partners and send a first approach. This one takes those partners and turns them into a steady stream of work: the offer, the referral kit, the agreement, joint campaigns, the routine and the monthly report. You can skip straight past the bits you’ve already done.

Do I have to pay partners?

Not always. Some partnerships work without money changing hands, but many partners will recommend you more often if they can earn from it. The course shows you when a referral fee, commission or reseller margin makes sense, how to agree it fairly, and which professions have their own rules.

I sell products, not services. Will it work for me?

Yes. Every part has examples for product businesses too, including joint giveaways, leaflet swaps in parcels, bundles and partner perks pages.

Do I need a CRM?

No. It works with most CRMs, and with a plain spreadsheet if that’s what you use.

Is this legal advice?

No. The course is general training. If you’re unsure about your situation, speak to a qualified adviser.

Do members pay extra?

No. It’s included in your membership, like every other course.

Get other businesses to send you customers.
